This workshop will provide an overview of basic adult clinical psychopharmacology, and it is aimed at clinician-psychologists and psychology students.
Learning objectives:
- Attendees will learn about the basics of clinical psychopharmacology across the lifespan.
- Attendee will learn about drug development procedure/timeline, psychopharmacology terminology, simplified pharmacokinetic/
pharmacodynamic, and be informed about major drug classes, stimulant/over-the-counter, and dementia treatments. - After completing the workshop, the attendee will have an overview knowledge of common psychotropic medications
- After completing the workshop, the attendee will be sensitive to the use of psychotropic medications during psychotherapeutic approaches.

The Presenter
Dr.
Amir Sepehry
Dr. Sepehry has extensive training as a scientist-practitioner. He completed a doctoral training by combining works from the University of Victoria (UVic) and the University of British Columbia (UBC) in the neuropsychology of aging (life-span developmental psychology) and behavioral neuroscience examining the diagnostic and assessment of depression in Alzheimer’s disease. Subsequently completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Neurology at the UBC. Before his doctoral training, Dr. Sepehry completed a master’s program at the Universite de Montreal (in French), incorporating Psychiatric sciences and Pharmacology. Currently, Dr. Sepehry is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Adler University, collaborates with neuropsychologists on forensic medico-legal projects, co-authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications in both Canadian languages, holds the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)-Psychopharmacology Chair position, and is the Vice-President of the British Columbia Psychological Association (BCPA).
